Amitava Nandy was a member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India. He represented the Dum Dum constituency of West Bengal and was a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) political party. He had been one of the most successful MPs during his tenure. The most significant work Nandy had done for his constituency was facilitating the withheld project of the expansion of the Metro Railways between Dum Dum and Dakshineswar. Mr. Nandy lost to Prof. Saugata Roy of TMC in elections to the 15th Lok Sabha .
