Every one called Elwin, Romey this was because of his good looks, as a young soldier in the army air core then the Air force. I named My oldest Son Romey who is Now 12 after him. Grandpa was the perfect Image of a Man, he fought hard for this country, and Hard for his seven children after my grandMother Daune passed away. Notice He died on his Birthday. he staved off Death as he did not want to die on Fri 13th. He would actually lose consciousness, and growl and stiffen up and wake back up declaring he will pass to see ma in just one more day on his birthday the day he would be re-joined with his true love. When she died of a sudden anuerisim, he came home from the hospital and set her purse and glassses on the dresser. They stayed their over 20 years as he never re-married. If I was Twice the man, i would still be 1/2 the man my grandfather was. I love you Grandpa, and as i get older I know when I pass to the next life you will be the first one i see

To Julie, What side of the Family are we related on, I may have met you many many many years ago at the large family reunion we did at lakeside park but that was back in the early 80's, Great grandpa was also a great man, he lost most of fingers fom either the great war, and or farming. I now live in Washington state. you can find me on face book! I have picures of Ggrandpa but none when he was young.
You are a 2nd cousin to ME ; because Romey & daune Are my uncle & aunt. so the story you tell here of romey part of it i did know of yur mom, other parts i'd not known because of lack of being informed, but i'm sorry that such sickness is with us, an how it contracts our lives. what did you think of grgrandpa Rohde? julie v.
