He was a sailor known as a one of Belgium's greatest sailing heroes. He competed on Summer Olympics where won a silver medal in 1956 in Melbourne and bronze medal in 1960 in Rome. He also competed in the Finn Gold Cup where he won twice 1st place and finished 2nd three times and third twice. He died after long battle with cancer, on December 9, 2012.
