He was a well-known Irish climber, broadcaster, and motivational speaker. McKeever once held the record for completing the seven highest peaks in the world in the fastest time. Passed away on January 2, 2013 - has been killed in a freak tragedy after he was struck by lightning on a climbing expedition on Mount Kilimanjaro.
