He was a popular Indian field hockey player who competed for Olympics four times and never returned empty-handed. He won gold medal in 1948, 1952 and 1960 and a silver medal in 1960. During his professional career he played more than one hundred games for India. Claudius passed away on December20, 2012 in Kolkata. The cause of death was an cirrhosis of liver.
