He was an Orthodox Jewish rabbi, co-founder and Rosh Yeahiva of Ohr Somayach Institutions - educational network for young, Jewish men and father of the modern-day baal teshuva movement. Throughout his life he wrote several seforim, books and articles about Jewish thought and practice. He died a cancer on December 11, 2012 in Jerusalem. He was buried on Har HaMenuchot.
