She was one of the leaders of the Warsaw ghetto uprising. Meed was a founder of the American Gathering of Jewish Holocaust Survivors. Meed helped smuggled Jewish children from the ghetto several times and took them to live with non-Jewish families. She died at her daughter´s home in Paradise Valley, Arizona. She had suffered from Alzheimer's disease.
