In Memory of Alicia Gayle Boyter
Sept 1, 1983-Aug 18, 2000
More than eleven years ago I lost you
Oh how I’ve missed you so.
I have so many things to say to you
I still wonder why you had to go.
To see your face and hear your voice,
Look into those beautiful eyes
Be able to hug you and give you a kiss
To be given a chance to say my goodbyes.
I sometimes try to imagine
How you might look today
The life you would have chosen
If you had not gone away.
But, for reasons I will never know
You didn’t have a very long life
You didn’t get to experience
Being a woman, a mother, a wife.
Graduation, marriage, being a mom,
dressing up for proms and your wedding day,
you didn’t experience by dying so young
Only God knows why you were taken away.
We never know when Jesus will call us home,
When words said to each other will be the last
So many things I wish I could say and do
Oh to go back in time, a moment in the past
I miss you as much as ever
I will always hold memories in my heart
Someday I plan to walk and talk with you again
In Heaven where we’ll never be apart
The plan for our life is known only by God
We must live in hope, faith and love
And someday I will again be with my little girl
Where we’ll walk with Jesus in heaven above.
