Just discovered this obituary. So sorry to learn of his passing. John was a good friend to me during our middle and high school years in Decatur, IL. I have many fond memories of our times hanging out at lunch and recess. He was brilliant, funny and kind when so many kids were so cruel. I went to his house once and met his mother I believe. Had a great time. I wish I had kept up with him, as I should have with many others. I moved to Utah and never saw him again after graduation. I would wonder about him from time to time, what he was doing, if he had a family and hoped he was well. My belated condolences to John's family and friends. He was a good soul.
