He was a politician, lawyer and activist who fought for the independence. Cubillo graduated from the University of La Laguna where he earned law degree. He was a founder and leader of the Canary Islands Independence Movement and also founder of the National Congress of the Canaries. He died on December 10, 2012 in Santa Cruz.
