She was a Norwegian designer and textile artist living in London. Jakobsen graduated from the National College of Art and Design. She was famous textile artist. Her characteristics were signature EMJ and the two small braids at the bottom of each edge of her artworks. With her textile artworks she won numerous awards. She also served on the board of the National Gallery and later engaged in politics and served on the City Council and a number of community committees.
