Friesen was a legendary American music and film executive. His career started as a mailroom employee at Capitol Records. Later worked as a president of A&M Records and co-founder of the Classic Sports Cable Network. He helped build the careers of the Police, Janet Jackson, Soundgarden, Carpenters and others. Friesen died after a long battle with leukemia at his home in Brentwood, on December 13, 2012.
