She was a physician and politician of the Party of the Democratic Revolution. Maria Salazar was also a mayor of a small western Mexican town - the city was known for its active drug gangs. She was killed. Her body was found near a small road in the town of San Juan Tararameo. The cause of death was a two fatal blows to the back of the neck.
