Comments and discussion
Hi, I am new on here. I am from New Zealand and my birth father was Richard Schmierer who was the son of Mary Schmierer in New York (the one mentioned here). Richard had a sister called Bobby who died when she was about 32 I think. I also have a photo of his father who I think died in the 1970's. I have a copy of their wedding photo from the 1930's. He also has a cousin called Judy who apparantly lives in New York.
I am keen to find anyone who knows this side of my birth family. I was told that there is Cherokee blood on Mary's side and that her maiden name might have been Schmidt ot Shulz but I have no way of finding out. Richard came to NZ in the 1960's to work on the Antartic Deep Freeze project based in Christchurch.
Regards
Dean
