He was an American politician. Gorman was a Republican elected to the House district in 2002 representing Craven and Pamlico counties. He was a North Carolina legislator. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy. He also served in the U. S. Navy during Vietnam War where reached the rank of lieutenant commander. Gorman died on December 2, 2012 the cause of death was a POEMS syndrome.
