was an Irish singer of traditional pop, easy listening and swing music, who found great popular success as an entertainer in the UK and elsewhere, and was noted for his warm and relaxed approach. A crooner, Doonican had five successive Top 10 albums in the UK Albums Chart in the 1960s, as well as several hits on the UK singles chart including "Walk Tall" and "Elusive Butterfly". From 1965 to 1986 he was a regular fixture on the BBC Television's schedule with The Val Doonican Show, which featured his own singing performances and a variety of guest artists. The TV shows were produced by Yvonne Littlewood.
