He was an English amateur astronomer who attained prominent status in that field as a writer, researcher, radio commentator and television presenter. He was an inspiration to multiple generations of geeks, and his work on the moon remains vital to our understanding of our nearest neighbor in the cosmos.
Sir Patrick Moore is listed by Guinness World Records as television’s longest-serving presenter. He delivered his first edition of “The Sky At Night” for the BBC in April 1957 and continued the monthly programme for more than half a century, missing only one show.
