She was a Kurdish activist and a founding member of the Kurdistan Workers' party - PKK, in 1978. Cansiz was considered to a legend amongst PKK members. Passed away on January 9, 2013. Cansiz and two other Kurdish woman activists have been found dead with gunshot wounds in a Kurdish information centre in Paris.
