Harry Louis Ingwald Askegard was my grandfather. I spent so much time with him in my early years that I can't tell for sure if he or my dad taught me to hunt, fish and ice fish. When dad was too busy working I was with grandpa on the farm. His farm or the old farm in Ashley. Or the lake cottage at Hougton Lake. Grandpa taught me many things that I still use today. I learned to enjoy the outdoors and the value of hard work and that education was as important as anything. He always had time for me. I still remember one of the last times he spoke to me, after he had lived to see My older sister Cherie, myself and my younger sister Marci all graduate from college and just after my older sister Cherie had been married. There he was in his last stage of life. Cancer was winning, but all he could say was that he was sorry he never took me to on a fishing trip to Drummond Island. I told him that was okay we had been fishing many times. He said no Scott, Drummond Island is a really special place. Louis loved his family. He is both remembered and missed.
