Albert Frank Schmauder was born in Entrican, Montcalm County, Michigan and around the age of 5 went West with his parent Charles & Augusta (nee Wulff) Schmauder. They lived in Moscow, Latah County, Idaho where a baby sister, Emma Martha Schmauder was born, died and is buried in the Moscow Cemetery. They moved to Genesee, Latah County, Idaho; Colfax, WA; Uniontown, WA and then to Steptoe, Whitman County, WA where the family ran the towns only chop mill until the mid 1920's when Charles & Augusta moved to Salem, Marion County, Oregon and then to Lafayette, Yamhill County, Oregon where they bought and ran a full service gas station and garage. Albert who had been married and divorced moved his family with him to Lafayette and worked for his father as an auto mechanic.
