Bruce and I went to high school together [South High, South Glens Falls, New York class of 1962]

He transferred into our school about our Sophomore year--from Connecticut.

His father (or grandparents) were Furriers, which I found fascinating that someone could make a career of traveling and handling prime furs from exotic animals and knowing how to evaluate & price prime pelts.

We lived in the Adirondack Mts. and I skipped school a lot to fish and hunt and knew several classmates who trapped and worked pelts.

Bruce was/ is the ONLY person I knew who had firsthand knowledge of making a "good" living handling pelts at the retail and "finished" end. We talked about it several times.

Bruce played on the school's Basketball team as a guard and had good ball handling skills; I don't know if he was a "shooter" per se, I can't remember that, however, he was amazing at cutting and passing.

Bruce and I snowshoed up French Mt. along Lake George's southeast shore one winter. We camped up there for a weekend. There's a small lake at the Mt.'s summit (Bear Pond) and we camped there in the sharp cold and enjoyed!? a heavy snow squall one of the days.

Bruce was very popular at school, and after school at his house his mom (who had a great personality and was non-judgmental toward we teenage guys who hung out w/ Bruce) always had cookies or sandwiches for us--VERY important to teenage boys!!-- and put up with our occasional rowdiness and gentle joshing with Bruce's younger brother, Barry, who was excited to know all about the "events" we were planning or had done!
