Those nearing baby boomer age might remember Dr. Demento. He had radio shows back in the 1970's and was known for playing songs like The Phantom Windbreaker and The Homecoming Queen's Got A Gun. ... Not exactly music for common folks.

Two of the things I'll always remember Melvin for were his sense of humor and the feeling of openness he could naturally create. He was a perfect example of the words of Marianne Williamson: "As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same." Things too silly (or whatever) for me to have the confidence to share with most people, Melvin had the heart to give me a person I knew would be totally willing to share things I hid from most. He was truly a special person! I doubt I will ever find another friend anywhere near his motivation and heart. I will forever miss him!
