Los estudios estadísticos de Kanfer (Viena, 29 de noviembre de 1901- agosto de 1974) detectaban el cáncer con un 87 % de seguridad, hasta cuatro años antes de que se pudiera hallar los indicios clínicos. Kanfer denominó a su método de detección "Neuromuscular Test for Determination of High-Risk Groups for Cancer", y se llevaba a cabo mediante el examen microscópico del trazo escritural. La mayoría de sus investigaciones las realizó en la Clínica Strang de Nueva York y en varias compañías de seguro. En términos generales, se realizaron trece estudios que incluían varios diseños experimentales. Fueron 10. 000 el número total de las muestras tomadas. Los resultados obtenidos fueron no solamente estadísticamente significativos, sino también suficientemente poderosos para apoyar la predicción diagnóstica. Fue una de las investigaciones grafopatológicas más importantes que se realizaron en esa época que duraron cerca de 35 años. Cfr. Kanfer, A., y Casten, D.
