My name is Victoria Walker and I am the last born child of Bernice P. Miles. My mother was a beautiful, brilliant, progressive and strong woman who stood her ground with resolve. She was an activist and teacher of sorts. My mother was very well versed in many areas and aspects of life. She shared her knowledge freely. Although my mother was one of two children she and our father had 11 children of their own. The majority of the time my mother single handedly raised the 11 children in the midst of trouble and strife. She perservered through the pain and became a champion of the people. When I think of my mother I think of her as powerful, brilliant and beautiful!
