I met who was to be the best friend I have ever had, David Vanderzeyde. I met him one Saturday night at a club we all frequented in Washington, DC and I knew immediately this was going to be one of my most beloved friends. David was like a brother to me and couldn't have been a more fantastic mentor and trusted friend. We used to take the train to New York and would always stay at the Paramount Hotel on West 46th Street and always had a wonderful time there. David was a veterinarian and his love for animals was evident. He was the most caring and gentle man with his "patients", he truly was Dr. David Vanderzeyde, DVM and graduated with honors from Purdue
University from his home state of Indiana.
One Thanksgiving, I decided to drive home to Arkansas from Washington DC and David rode home with me. My mother and father immediately fell in love with David. They considered him one of their kids and my brother. He never stopped talking about what a great cook my mother was (which is why she adored him)! Now that I have lost my mother & father and David, I hope that they are all smiling down at me and someday my wish is to be there with them all in the presence of light and knowledge. I miss my mom and dad and I miss my brother David Vanderzeyde, the greatest friend anyone, and me, could ever have or know. God bless you David, I love you!!
