Biography

Dewanbagi Pir was a pir of Bangladesh. He was the founder of Dewanbagh Darbar Sharif, Dhaka. He became one of the most popular and controversial religious figures in Bangladesh. Dewanbagi was born as Syed Mahbub-e-Khoda in Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh on 14 December 1949. His parents were Syed Abdur Rashid and Syeda Jobeda Khatun. He was the youngest of all six siblings. He studied from Talshahar Karimia Alia Madrasa till Fazil. He took 'Baiyat' (baptism to Khilafah) from Sultan Ahmed Chandrapuri of Faridpur. Later on he married her daughter and inherited to Khilafah after his father-in-law's death. He established his headquarters in Dewanbag, Narayanganj and took the epithet 'Dewanbagi Pir'.
