Emmi Kobylanski (1922-2004) *82

Emmi Kobylanski Emmi Kobyklanski was my great grandmother. I don't even know why I'm feeling this urge to write this but I feel like I need to. I don't remember her ttoo well because she died when I was six. However, I've heard amazing things about her. She was a VERY strong woman. If she was as strong physically as she was mentally she could lift five elephants at once. Emmi was born in Germany, where most of my family originates from. She survived the holocaust, along with her seven other sisters. When the Holocaust was going on her mom did everything that she could to keep not only herself but her eight children alive. They bought old meat from the butcher that he wasn't allowed to sell just to survive. She went through a lot in her life. Emmi had two children, her daughter Amy and her son Angus, Amy is my grandma. Emmi was the support and backbone of this family, and when she died everybody's world shattered. I was young so I just saw everyone else around me sadden leaving me without a clue as to what had happened. Nobody has been the same ever since. You never get "over" a death of a loved one. You just learn to function without them day to day. She is still all of our hearts, and sometimes my nana and mom say they see personality traits in her that are also in me. I feel underserving to be even compared to such an amazing person, she's my inspiration. I just wish she could have lived a little bit longer so that I could have had the honor to be with such a remarkable lady. She is still missed and always will be. Fly high and R.I.P Emmi <3 we all love you.
