She was a famous as a Russian soprano opera singer and as the wife of the Russian cellist, Mstislav Rostropovich. Vishnevskaya was also known by the nickname Galya. Her music repertoire to including Eugene Onegin, Mussorgsky's Songs and Dances of Death, Britten's War Requiem, The Poet's Echo, Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov, Puccini's Tosca, Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades, Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Tchaikovsky's Iolanta, Prokofiev's War and Peace and others. During her opera career Galina won numerous awards. She was married three times, her first husband was Georgi Vishnevsky, the second Mark Rubin and they had together one son. Later she married again, her third husband was Mstislav Rostropovič and they had together two daughters Olga and Elena. Died on December 11, 2012 in Moscow.
