In general parlance, family typically refers to the parents and children living together whereas relatives refer to the members of the extended family including grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Hello all, Irwin Berman was my grandfather. He was a loving, kind, and gentle man who never failed to find something to laugh about. I loved him so much and still love him in his death. He had cancer. The radiation made his immune system too weak to fight off disease and his cause of death was pneumonia. It was actually good he died when he did since the cancer was spreading to his brain. He will be greatly missed by his wife, 2 surviving children, and 6 grandchildren.
