I met Jason in school; Unity High School. At first impression, I thought of him as a young man seeking attention no matter what kind of attention it was! But when I got to be around him more, I really saw a much softer, gentler side. The more time we spent together at lunch and after school, he was very cool at heart. We were falling in love because we were growing and bonding so much. I remember on my birthday, he bought me balloons and a CD player. He was just really sweet and needed some love and attention. Not to be too personal, but Jason was actually the first person I ever loved. We were like glue. There came a point when he and started to see each other less, I met him in 1992 so it was about 1994 when we started to drift. He was becoming more involved in "street activity" and didn't really have a lot of time for hanging out with me. Then months go by and I get a call from his Aunt telling me he's gone. I was so hurt! He was so young and didn't get a chance to see life. I went to see him for the last time and from that day in my life I realized how delicate we really are and how much we all need to embrace love and family more. I want to end my comment by saying that since Jason was only 15, he was yearning for a place where he would be accepted and loved. Now that he is gone doesn't mean that he will never return. He was sweet and caring at heart, a quality that I will never forget! May God keep Jason Leonard in memory and bring him back in Paradise for he deserves a second chance.
