Lloyd H.Skougor (Sr.) was my Father and he was caught in a fire in his apartment in Largo, Florida in February, 1977 and did not recover, succumbing to a renal shutdown, after being burned with second and third degree burns over 90 per cent of his body.
Fire officials claimed that he had started the fire with a cigarette, after falling asleep on his couch, waking when he was engulfed by the fire and literally pulling the phone off the wall, as he suffered a stroke.
Two of his three daughters from his marriage to Dorothy Lillian Snyder accompanied me to the Clearwater, Florida hospital, where he was in intensive care and unconscious, he never regained consciousness and died about 48 hours after the fire.
