Pauline Whitebird (1919-1999) *79

Pauline Whitebird Ruby Pauline Whitebird was a very strong formidable wise woman, a mother, sister, aunt and wife. I loved her very much, she was my mother and best friiend. Pauline had a hard childhood, and life until she married my father. She grew up very poor, and worked very hard to earn money. She never store bought clothes until she married my dad. She married a full blood Cherokee man at 16, and suffered domestic violence at the hands of her first husband,wich ultimately ended in bloodshed. Fortunately not fatal,she fled and sought refuge at her sisters house in Vanita, Oklahoma. My father seen his chance to be with the woman he loved, his mother made the arrangements for it to happen. My father then went to see my mother, she thought he was there to jail for killing her first husband, but my father was there to ask for her hand in marriage, he explained everything, they were married that afternoon in Hot Springs, Arkansas. They live a wonderful blessed life, and we're blessed with a baby girl in 1976, adoption. Pauline was barron from an emergency historectomy at age 21. They fostered 29 children, then they had a child to call their own (me). She blessed me everyday, I am grateful to have known her.
