Samuel William Criteser, 76 of Drain, Oregon, died November 16, 1999, in a veteran’s hospital in Roseburg, Oregon. He was born September 18, 1923 in Harbor/Brookings, Oregon, to Otto Ray Criteser and Lois Ida Green, and came to Kalama from Burney, California, in 1966. In 1990 he retired to Drain. Mr. Criteser served in the Navy from 1942 to 1945. He was a logger for Weyerhaeuser Co. retiring in 1987. Survivors include his wife, Margie Ann, at home; a son, Raymond Leroy Criteser of San Quentin, California; two daughters, Caroline Gaytan-Torres of Kalama and Sami Jane Criteser of Drain; a brother Glenn Criteser of Louisville, Ky.; two sisters Evie Berg and Hazel Reidel, both of Crescent City; six grandchildren; and two cousins. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Criteser. No services are planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
