Tannette Jaloff Long-time Marin County resident died at the age of 102 on January 5th at the Smith Ranch Care Center where she had resided for the past seven years. Born on November 22, 1905 in Astoria, OR, to Charlotte and Abaham Jaloff, she attended high school in Portland, OR, and graduated from UC Berkeley in 1927 where she was the senior women's editor at the Daily Cal and a member of the Prytanean Society. Tannette taught at Tamalpais and Sir Francis Drake High Schools for 36 years. She also taught for one year in Hawaii and spent three years as a Red Cross club director in England, France, and Germany during WWll. She was a founding member of the Drake Scholarship Foundation. After her retirement in 1964 she enjoyed travel, playing bridge and volunteering as a cancer patients' driver. Survivors include three nephew, John Puklus of Malibu, CA, Larry Crane of Austin, TX, and Richard Jaloff of Los Angeles, CA; two nieces, Gail Siegel of Fairfax, CA, and Joan Steele of Ashland, OR, as well as seven great nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew. At her request, no services are planned. Memorials may be made in her name to the Drake Scholarship Foundation, Sir Francis Drake High School, San Anselmo, CA; or ForWords, the Catie Siegel Memorial Writing Center, c/o CanalAlliance, 91 Larkspur St., San Rafael, CA 94901.
