About me:

Everyone has a life story and everyone's life story deserves to be told.

The moment it struck me was two weeks after my father died, when I was talking to my cousin.

As my relative chatted I suddenly realised there was a fascinating side to my father life story that I’d never heard - stories from his childhood stories about his family connections stories from when I was too young to remember.

He never shared these stories and much to my annoyance I’d never asked. A set of stories that others in the family such as my children and grand children did not know, and it was highly unlikely they’d ever know.

The picture or legacy about my Dad was incomplete, held in separate place in people’s memories never to be joined and shared – his achievements and efforts will just fade into nothing - very sad. Maybe this is how it is and maybe I was struggling, as we all do, to cope with bereavement.

As I wandered towards my Dad’s grave I passed hundreds of others, I paused and thought ‘who was this Captain Gerald Tipper laying here, what did he do in his life, where was he a soldier, does he have family, what’s his life story?’ Will other do the same to my Dad? Will future generations of the family know about my Dad?

So borne out of this experience and I contacted other family members, I talked to the funeral services industry and came up with the boxed Digital Memorial Plaque. An easy way of creating a permanent legacy and a way of telling the world what made a ‘loved one’ so special.

The plaque and crosses can be attached to a gravestone, memorial stone, and an urn or simply placed in a special place such as a remembrance garden. On scanning with a Smartphone or entering the web address from the plaque or crosses, a ‘loved ones’ life story will be accessible to the viewer online and at the graveside or special place.

The site includes stories, pictures, video links, family history, and links to other family members, family trees, instant messages of condolence all available in a mobile, tablet and PC format. Designed to last 100’s of years the plaque or cross can be bonded to a gravestone, screwed to a wall, or stuck in the ground.

The plaque or cross comes with a free access to the tribute site at we-will-remember.com. However if people have an existing tribute site or website or YouTube video, we can redirect plaques and crosses to these.

I think the use of technology and increasing use of social media is changing the way we handle bereavement and the way funerals conducted. If you require further information please contact me on the numbers or email above. See us at http://digital-memorial-plaque.com.
