This unusual name is a German cognate of the Italian personal nickname "corona" meaning "crown", a name originally given to someone who had a tonsure in fulfilment of a religious vow. The name Crone or Krone is well recorded in London Church Registers from the early 17th Century (see below). On April 30th 1763, Elizabeth Crone and Anthony Hilker were married in St. Martin in the Field, Westminster on June 6th 1847 one, Ferdinand Friedrick Heinrick Krone married a Mary Ann Norton at St. Anne, Soho, Westminster.
