This is my dad. He passed when I was a teenager and at a time when I was not very receptive to my parents. I've since learned to respect and understand his reasoning and his reasons for being how he was. I love him more now than I ever did and regret my youthful ignorance and self-centered behavior. My dad was an extremely hard working and dedicated individual. He worked long hours to provide for his family. His family values were old school and strict, but nonetheless worthy of my appreciation. He could have, and should have, left my abusive mother, but did not for his own moral reasons. As an adult, I don't understand how he endured her verbal tirades and constant button pushing behavior. But, he did and I respect him for that courage. He was not a well man. As a heavy smoker, he developed acute asmatha and emphezema. To make matters worse, he had one lung removed due to cancer and continued smoking 2 to 3 packs of cigarettes a day. He died due to a freak accident during a fishing trip with some friends. Happy one early morning, the accident ocurrs, and dead three days later. I had no opportunity for a goodby or an I love you. Like I said, I love him now more than I ever did; I understand and respect the man that was my father. Goodby dad, I love you. Your son Michael.
